A high level of sharpness at all spatial frequencies is thus secured. Agfa's EBC top-coating technology provides a smoother plate surface, giving improved signal-to-noise ratios. The MD 4.0 imaging plate gives a 30% higher sensitivity with no visible difference in sharpness. Additionally, because the level of noise is now lower, you can choose either to lower the dose or to further improve the image processing. Long lifetime MD 4.0 imaging plates are protected by an EBC (electron-beam-cured) topcoat, resulting in plates with superb protection from mechanical wear and extensive immunity to chemical cleaning solutions.
